I think there’s a common misconception in Maun Sadhana. Or Silent Meditation as it gets translated.
I’ve had my fair share of time practicing it. Block off a couple hours and tell everyone you can’t talk with them. Way too much time teaching it at workshops.
Teaching is a bit of a misnomer. You’re not really teaching anything when most of your role is to go shush.
“Silent meditation”.
But your mind stays busy.
Then an older person comes along and tells you your mind needs to be silent too.
So you go try that too.
Honestly, I find that kind Maun shallow.
To borrow one of the fancy words I have to use at work, governance.
Maun is not merely keeping your lips still and your mind empty.
It’s about governance.
Precision.
Are you saying what you need to say or what you want to say? The same rule applies to your Manas as well.
