Free coffee (though home’s is better).

Free snacks (why spend my money at Costco when they can).

Free or subsidized meals (meal prep bores me and eating out is expensive).

Flexible work (despite our love for the pattern, this isn’t a factory).

What I Can Do Without

Concert level theatrics (for business presentations)

Mandated fun (I just want to get our work done)

Happy hours. Genuinely mixed on this one. Fun times. Appreciate a drink on someone else’s dime. But generally awkward to drink with the folks who sign your paycheck. Best when they’re organic.

Retreats. Imma just say this one. Nowhere in the job description does it mention drinking in a hot tub in the middle of nowhere with your skip level.
